      Exactly!

Also, did you say all the devices are basically the same, except for processor? I'd love to get my hands on a cheapo one to play with.

It really depends on your requirements and how much data you have. The 214 provides up to 12 TB of raw capacity while the 1515+ provides up to 90 TB (when used with expansion units). The 1515+ also has quad LAN ports for failover/Link Aggregation and supports Synology High Availability/automatic failover.

@brianlittlejohn It's certainly not a universal problem. Outlook 2016 performs perfectly well on our other Windows 10 machines.

On a positive note, I like the new edge browser.

I quite like Edge too - in fact, it's been set as default for quite a while. The only real issue I have with Windows 10 - and it's one I haven't yet been able to resolve - is that Outlook is extremely slow to start immediately after boot. Besides that, Windows 10 is quite solid and non-problematic.

OMG Outlook 2013 is so slow on Windows 10!!

...and Outlook 2016 is no better!

Of course once an attacker is in your system, they will have access to all your stuff.

Indeed. The moral of this story is simply that all bets are off if your systems are compromised.

    • Hacking tool swipes encrypted credentials from password manager

"Using a password manager is one of the biggest ways that average computer users can keep their online accounts secure, but their protection is pretty much meaningless when an end user's computer is compromised. Underscoring this often ignored truism is a recently released hacking tool that silently decrypts all user names, passwords, and notes stored by the KeePass password manager and writes them to a file."

Yeah, exactly. That comment makes me feel even older than I already do!

Anyway, I mountain bike at least once a day, play tennis in summer and squash in winter. I walk the dog too but, as he's getting quite long in the tooth now, the walks are becoming shorter and shorter.

Products I would use for a scenario like this include and ARE limited to:

      • Synology and/or IOSafe two bay NAS enclosure (paging @Brett-at-ioSafe )
      • Netgear ReadyNAS two bay NAS enclosure

Both RAID 1, both business class, both flexible, powerful and cheap. Literally nothing else I would look at or consider.

      Thanks, Scott!

@DustinB3403: I'm not sure that our solutions - which are fireproof/waterproof hard drives and NAS - would be the best option in this scenario but, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Revert and reply are totally different words. Reply means to respond to someone, it refers to communications. Revert means to return a system to a previous state.

      Well... http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/definition/english/revert?q=revert

While it's stated to be Indian English, I remember the usage as being fairly common in the UK (not the norm, certainly, but not particularly uncommon either).

huh - before this post, I would have asked them what they were smoking if someone asked me to revert to their inquiry.

I always considered it somewhat pretentious - it was often used by the same people who'd use ""Very truly yours" or similar as a valediction.
