@bigbear All our NAS are similar to Synology as they all run Synology's operating system What capacity to do you need? The 216 provides up to 16TB of raw capacity while the 1515+ provides up to 120TB (when used in conjunction with expansion chassis)..
@bigbear A diskless 2-bay costs $659.99. You can find pricing on our website.
I'm willing to accept the blame for most things - I'm married; it's the easiest way - but have to draw the line at that!

I have a nerd boner that can be seen from space.
In that case, I'm going to avoid looking at any photos taken from the ISS for the time being.

It'd be a real shame if someone built a little wooden house for it
You mean, like Trevor Pott's REID.....

@RojoLoco What do you have in mind?
@dafyre One of the weirder tests of our products, that's for sure!
@MattSpeller said in AWS shock tests its data storage boxes:
If you want a real world test for it, drop it down a flight of concrete stairs or off a loading dock.
Or give it to Machinima, like we did.....
Oh, boy.
They say.....
It took us nearly two years to select, design, test, and qualify the myriad hardware components that go into TrueNAS, which is a purpose-built appliance — meaning software coupled with custom hardware — designed for its one specific application: critical storage.

So FreeNAS is an appliance
I wouldn't class FreeNAS as an appliance. To my mind, an appliance is a hardware/software combination that's purpose-built to perform a single, specific task in a turnkey manner.

It's a big deal knowing that someone like ioSafe will respond to a query here in like hours if not minutes.
Oops.....
@garak0410 I've not watched the TV show, but I've read the books and they're really good.

I am horribly out of touch with novels in the last 8 years.
I miss reading. I have a library of ~1000 books all boxed up because this apartment has no space for them.
I'm a Sci-Fi / Fantasy guy.
sounds like my apartment too but scifi / military
We only have 6 bookshelves full of books (half shelves really). The wife is really good about weeding books and not keeping stuff around just for the sake of keeping it around. If it has no value for subsequent reads it gets chucked in a box and donated.
One of the more popular things to do around these parts is start your own free library

A very cool idea: I've never come across one of those before. And, coincidentally, my wife is actually down in Victoria today.
@scottalanmiller As I said, it certainly isn't a product I'd use. "Maximizes internet connection speeds." Yeah, right.
