@scottalanmiller I've never actually gotten one, that I can remember anyway, from an ISP. I'm more or less thinking of Credit Cards that give you an out if they change your contract.

All you'd end up with is a letter in the mail saying things are changing, whether or not you read it and have alternative options is an entirely different matter.
I'm pretty sure if they decide to change their terms part of the letter stating so gives you an out. As SAM has stated though, the law was dictating these rules before, likely nothing in the contracts.

RE: FCC Net Neutrality Insanity Continues
Once these net neutrality rules change and ISPs start blocking services and websites, does that change the terms of our contracts and are we then free to change providers without early termination fees?

Do you have the latest Xen-Server tools install on your VM?
No, looks like that was pretty old. I just updated and restarted. I'll monitor the memory for a while and see if that has any impact.

RE: Need some Yaelink Material
@eddiejennings I believe it. We went from $450+/month down to ~$40.

RE: Anyone seen the reddit popular page today?
This is awesome. Now if only regular people really cared.

RE: Windows Server 2012R2 DHCP Server Memory Leak?
I have some warnings and errors in the event viewer that I'm going through now. Is there any reason to have IPv6 enabled if we're not using it? A lot of warnings in there about IP6 supposed to be static only.

Windows Server 2012R2 DHCP Server Memory Leak?
This VM running on XS has been having issues that appear to be a memory leak. After reboot everything works as expected and as the week goes by the ram is consumed until the VM becomes unresponsive.
What is the course of action when something like this happens?
It appears to have started once I started the Azure AD Connect install process, but I ended up cancelling it before I got past the initial setup screen. Unfortunately I only keep a week of snapshots and this has been happening for about 2 weeks.
Edit: the only services on this VM are the AD related services, DNS, and DHCP

RE: Looking for some neat Server Build Projects
@scottalanmiller Do you know if all the formulas are the same as Excel?
Edit: Surely you can't know this, since you haven't used excel in 14 years lol I'll google.

RE: Is the Echo trustworthy?
It appears to me (my observations only, no data) that Apple has been the most focused (of the main players) on their users' privacy to me.

RE: How do ISPs get business?
We have WOW in SE Michigan at work, $115 for 240/15. I have it at home, too. I signed up back when they were new to the area and the customer service and prices were awesome, now they are assholes just like the big guys. I absolutely dread talking to them.

RE: Nauseated or Nauseous
I actually just learned from this thread that it's ONLY a verb lol
I harass my wife every time she says she "feels nauseous" ... oops -
RE: Nauseated or Nauseous
I agree though, almost everybody is trying to use "nauseated" as an adjective, which is obviously wrong, as it's a verb.
-
RE: Nauseated or Nauseous
I was nauseated by the noxious fumes. That is perfectly fine according to Oxford.

RE: Installing Hyper-V 2016
@jaredbusch Maybe it was never best practice, probably just bad advice from SW for having a single host? I can't remember for sure.
-
RE: Installing Hyper-V 2016
I haven't done this in a while, and back when I did, it was best practice to not join the host to the domain. Which does make managing it far more complicated. It's always been my understanding that joining it to the domain would make managing much easier. I guess I'm still bitter about using that damn hvremote tool.

Not much different than KVM.
Way more complicated than XS though.
