- I don't typically hang onto them unless I plan on reaching out that contact in the very near future.
- I do think that a memorable business card has greater value, as it sticks in your memory better, but...
- As soon as I see a round or square card, or any not-the-normal-shape card, I think "this is not a serious business, and I will not take them seriously. This person is a tree-hugger from a graphic design background who made this card using their MacBook."

- Welcome @SamieWalters !
- Jenga champion? I seem to remember @pchiodo and I going the distance on one game. Did anyone else accomplish that? You must be referring to quantity, not quality. LOL
I'm really glad you were both there. It was a great time, and you were both a lot of fun to hang with. Here's to hoping you can join us again for MC2017!

My relationship with Unetbootin began pretty rough. It was suggested to me to use for Win8. Needless to say, we're not on speaking terms.

RE: Why Does It Always Go That Way?
Why, if that's the way it works, haven't guys figured out how to beat the system? Just date any girl that comes along and is desperate enough to date you. Then, dangle her like bait so the other girls get curious and move in closer. Then, grab one of them. Could it be that simple? Have I just unwittingly unlocked one of the secret hacks of the universe?

I believe you if you tell me that is a thing, but I'm not looking it up. Seriously.

well my office is on the other side of the house. Has a door and a closet that I intend on turning into my data center. Gonna pipe a window unit in there and let er rip
My old home office in Texas had a big floor standing A/C unit to cool the rack. The piping was all painted up in NTG Orange.
Fun fact: The orange spray paint can that was used to paint that piping was the same can that was utilized in the near-famous incident involving @psx_defector , Maker's Mark, and the orange belly... the night before SpiceWorld 2012.

RE: The Hospitality Management Anecdote
I am convinced that one could get an arguably better education on YouTube than at college, with the proper level of self-motivation. As with the availability of computers themselves, hi-tech equipment in general, and all of that, the ease of access to limitless information is unparalleled. It's mind-blowing, when you actually sit and think about it. When I was in high school (not that long ago, in all reality), we didn't have cell phones, let alone smart phones. The "internet", aka "cyberspace" was something you read about it Popular Science, and our computer lab had Apple II-GS desktops. You had to know how to use a card catalog, an atlas, and a phone book. Today, in stark contrast, we carry a handheld device that has instant access to the entire compendium of human knowledge, spanning the spectrum of recorded history (which we use to argue with strangers and look at cat pictures). I don't think college was ever the necessity it has been drummed-up to be, but anymore, the "college or bust" mantra is little more than job security for the edu-crats. Of course, all of this is not to say that I want doctors to be "YouTube grads", so please understand the context, as explained in the OP.

RE: The Incident with AJs Cheese
Yeah, that smell started off as a little "can you smell that?" and, over a 36-hour period, became a slap in the face as you opened the door to the room. I'm kind of surprised we didn't get any calls from the front desk about housekeeping staff passing out, or at least refusing to clean the room. It was bad. Thanks be to @scottalanmiller for casually mentioning that @handsofqwerty asked him if he could leave his bag there (obviously a different bag...). That got me thinking; did @handsofqwerty ever come back for the bag he left in our room (I had put it in a small cupboard next to the fridge)? When I opened it to look and see if the bag was still there, I thought the smell seemed a little stronger than what was wafting about the room in general. The air was so saturated, I just couldn't tell. Danielle saw me lift the bag out and said "is that smell coming from his bag?". I held it out toward her and she started gagging. I guess that was confirmation, and then she pulled the block of limburger cheese from the mesh side-pocket. I tossed it out in the trash by the ice machine, down the hall, not knowing if there was a better place to put it. I'm sure whoever took care of that trash can, or anyone who went for ice, got a treat. By mid-day Friday, there were still significant traces of the odor in our room. Ugh.

RE: The Hospitality Management Anecdote
Yup, education and news outlets. For-profit businesses that have managed to convince the general populace that they are necessary, trustworthy, and looking out for something to do with truth, your best interests, or some other idealistic thing like that. Laughable, except for the fact that the rest of us are held hostage by their successful marketing and the consequences thereof.

RE: I am so @#$%^&* Excited to annouce a new Managing Director for NTG!!
I am sensing that the "congrats" are much more directed at her for getting rid of this crappy responsibility than they are for my getting stuck with it.
Oh, and I won't be wearing any of her shoes, just to be clear and up front about all that stuff.

@scottalanmiller I read a magazine article a while back, which specifically studied how people read. So Scott, I'm sorry you're wrong here.
The meaning does seem different, and even difficult to understand.
But people can read entire books even if the lower half of the letters were completely absent.
Thank you for using "you're" correctly!

Also, was the monitor on the laptops not working? It appeared that most people had to read their presentation from the TV, which caused it's own issues.
Worked fine whenever I was up there. It's my old laptop from Nicaragua, was working fine last I used it, too.
I did use the provided laptop (ours), and the screen was fine. I chose to look at what the audience was looking at when presenting, instead of standing at the podium and staring at a laptop screen. To me, that is a more professional way to present. Just my opinion, though.

This wasn't a topic about religion. It was about advertising. Religion happened to be the thing that was being advertised in the OP's object of discussion.

RE: How Do You Restore Linux Files from Unitrends Image Backups
@thanksajdotcom We were actually getting consistent failures across the board on all the VM's, seemingly due to an issue within VMware itself. However, I noticed we were using incremental forever on all of the VM's, and I was curious how the issue could be VMware needing an update. I ran manual fulls on the VM's, and all but one succeeded. So, I swapped out the incremental forever (awesome when it works, but honestly just has too much voodoo and pixie-dust for me to ever bother troubleshooting it) and set up a weekly full/nightly incremental strategy. So far, all but the one are working now. That's another issue, which I am currently addressing. As far as the incremental forever... it's "Unitrends' best practice", but sometimes environmental factors just don't play well with it, and it's a ton easier to go with a legacy backup strategy than worry about it, IMO.

10 years total or wedding anniversary?
Wedding.
Congrats.
Umm, that's next July, dude.
Pessimist I see..
No, I'm being optimistic. I hope he does indeed have a 10th anniversary next July. If he spends it at MC2017, I'm not so optimistic about the 11th...
