Who here plays Pokemon Go?

I think you'll find that the people who play it are not online so won't be able to respond.

@nadnerB reported on the GMail thing last night when he deleted the game.

You gave the company unrestricted access to your gmail account if you signed in with Google. Slow clap
According to some reports, it's only iOS... but... still not a good idea to keep the permissions active. I've given up "playing" it. This security issue is inexcusable.

Running around outside in search of catching stuff... isn't that what fishing is?
But you catch something in 10 minutes as opposed to 10 hours.

Some people fish to get away from everyone and everything.
Some people phish to get everyone and everything.I think this app falls in the latter category.

Not really.
It's the typical case of a new "thing" that a young company has just launched, been pulled apart and scrutinized and finding a big problem but their response has not been evasion or corporate BS, it's been "We're so sorry, we never intended xyz, we're fixing it NOW, here's what we've done"

At least you can eat the fish you catch....

If you know what you are doing you can catch a fish in less than 10 minutes. It may not be the most desirable fish (possibly a magicarp or a catfish)

Speaking of comparing Pokemon Go to fishing....

It was the iOS app requesting the wrong access level. The game does not need or require it. They are patching it to request the correct access level.

I play and I think it is probably one of the greatest games created in recent history. Not because of the gameplay, but the enthusiasm and impact that it is making on the health of the players. Over the past few days I've seen a lot of people out and about walking through parks and the roads I regularly run, that very obviously don't live an active lifestyle. If the enthusiasm for the game sticks I think it has the potential to vastly improve the quality of life for a large portion of the population.
Also, it helped turn my normal 4 mile run into a more entertaining 7 miles. I'm all for breaking up the monotony of long runs.

That is how I felt about Ingress. And it is the reason, I may delve back into things with this game, but have not yet.

Thanks for the meme idea. 104 shares and counting....!

I am having a blast. There were 50 people in a local park all running around talking with each other and interacting. Smaller kids were playing, parents were catching pokemon. I overheard one guy say "I have brought my daughter up here to play every night." I have never seen this on a Monday Night in my life.

Not since I was young do I recall people not staying indoors during the evenings on week nights. I think it's pretty cool it's getting people out there.

Popped up on 9gag this morning...

It's really cool. I was watching kids in my town riding their bikes up and down the street last night with a phone in their hand. When they saw a Pokemon they would stop and catch it. Unfortunately we live on a pretty busy street so I hope they are paying attention enough.

Took like one hour before my nephew got into a screaming fight with his mom because he is now refusing to look before crossing streets. Even when told to look he will just ignore people and stare at the phone while crossing.
