Walking Dead Plot Holes - How would IT folk survive

@MattSpeller At $70 a t-shirt I think I'd rather just shower every day....
-
Are zombies in any way like vampires? You can kill a vampire with a silver stake or bullet, so can one ward off zombies with a silver-threaded shirt? Might make them even more worth it at $70 per...

@DustinB3403 Does it have to be git or can I use cvs?

Since we started this topic, I have now actually seen the first season of this show! And yeah, compared to the people on it, many IT people would actually do better. Those people are idiots.

Compared to people in the show, basically anyone could do better, they're classic Romero zombies, as long as you can move faster than them, you're safe. Having said that, in a real zombie apocalypse, I stand by my original assessment of IT people.

Oh I agree, the IT people would be the second group dead. The first group dead would be Hollywood screenwriters who are apparently already on the cusp of being zombies already.

there would be a (small) percentage of those IT people who would manage...

Well there's a 1% margin of error in any zombie apocalypse.

why I now don't think a train is a good idea,...
-
@gjacobse A train at even 10 miles per hour would be fast enough to keep any zombies away.
Only when trains are pushed beyond their intended speeds for the zone they are in is when things like this occur.
Unless, of course something is physically wrong with the track. Like it's missing.

Yup, even 8mph. You go slow and take no risks. Just run over zombies or push them aside is all. Going fast would be insane.
-
Of course you would have to have teams ready to go and clear the track at any given time. If a tree has fallen on the track you need to get it moved immediately.
But slow and steady would win with this every time. Just need a team of people who can operate chain saws (or team saws).
That or figure out a decent way to move the tree with the train. Maybe a winch system of some sort....
-
Even without moving, the train is pretty easy to secure. It is elevated, designed to be locked up and you can move from car to car without being exposed.
-
@scottalanmiller But how would you move a big tree that's fallen directly across the track, or worse, in line with it?

My point was you don't have to, at least not anytime soon. And two, you just push it. What tree is bigger than a train can move?

Or took out the track with a torch or worse... or blasted the bridge you need to use since there isn't another one for 1,000 miles....

I suppose... i mean trains do move a lot.....
But trees break or fall over all of the time. The chances of a tree falling onto the track are a constant.

Not in the US, trees are cleared from near tracks. They can't fall onto tracks or the trains couldn't safely do 110 mph + today. Tracks specifically don't have trees nearby in the US. Most of Europe, too.
