Awesome, so I can't even approach the OP publicly to let them know that other conversations are going on.
David can eat a bag of *****
SW can't allow people to post links that steal their conversations to other forums.. they need to keep everyone there.
This always has to be done via PM. No matter what forum you are talking about they don't want things to leave the community.
I once had a post removed from Experts Exchange due to posting an answer and sourcing another forum, from where I found the resolution. They can do this, as it is in there Terms of Use of using the site.

We all (should have) learned about correct source citation. Stating an information's source is not only valid but important IMHO.
Absolutely, references and citations are very important.

Posting links in open questions that encourage Members to use competing sites. It is an important rule of ML that this CAN'T happen. References to other sites (at least for reference and citation) are totally allowed. You only limit those links when you are not open (manipulating the results) or in fear (don't want users to know.)

Yeah, but deleting the whole post? He could remove the links and post an answer, for example.
removing the links still tells other people that someone is talking about these things elsewhere. They don't want that.
Right, the most important thing is that they can't let people know that THEY are blocking links to other sites.
This suggests that the panic is setting in.
Or that the are specifically blocking a user who is calling their users stupid on another community and trying to cross link to said community.
Have you read either this thread, the OP of the thread here, or the OP on spiceworks to come to this conclusion?

Except for ML. Because it's not about fear and control. It's about the conversation and the conversation is most valuable when it is open and honest.

As noted previously, no. I will not fuel your ego on these posts. Every once and a while you hit my threshold of asshattery and I comment again on your level of asshattery.

Oh yes! I would prefer that all conversations happen out in the open.

Welcome to my world. I have 100% stopped posting "over there" because of that f[***]bag [moderated]. I swear he sits and rubs himself while he smugly deletes posts. I was so hoping he was one of the 12%, but no such luck.
