Verizon to Buy AOL for $4.4 Billion

Fifteen years after AOL acquired Time Warner for $165 billion in a bold effort to put entertainment and advertising on the World Wide Web, the company that coined “You’ve got mail” is at it again.
This time, however, AOL is the company being acquired, and it is a mobile phone company trying to disrupt the media industry.

After 16 years, I finally got one of my users to stop paying the monthly fee to AOL. As of a few years ago that user was still using dialup when they were visiting remote parts of Montana, though that area now has OK cellular coverage.

AOL still exists? What do they do? Imagine how weird it must be working at a company worth $4.4bn while no one knows what you do or that you exist and things you were bankrupt a decade ago.

Having the services isn't worth money. They need customers for that to be worth something.
