France 40C heatwave could break June records

this week – potentially breaking the record for June.

Temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees or more on Monday, and climb even further until the peak on Thursday and Friday.

Oh yeah, we are feeling it. 37C in Rome today. Going to be in France in a few days.

That’s not going to be fun. Stay hydrated (water, not booze)

'Climate apartheid' between rich and poor looms, UN expert warns

A UN expert has warned of a possible "climate apartheid", where the rich pay to escape from hunger, "while the rest of the world is left to suffer".

Even if current targets are met, "millions will be impoverished", said Philip Alston, the UN's special rapporteur on extreme poverty.

North Korea reveals explosive HIV outbreak—after claiming to be disease-free

The case estimate stands in stark contrast to a celebration in Pyongyang last year on December 1—annual World AIDS Day—in which government officials declared that North Korea is an “AIDS-free zone” and that there is “not a single AIDS patient” in the country.

Well in all honesty, there likely are ZERO AIDS patients in all of North Korea because NK doesn't treat anyone for anything.

Renewable electricity beat out coal for the first time in April

Seasonal shifts helped, but long-term changes underlie the record.
A remarkable thing happened in the US in April. For the first time ever, renewable electricity generation beat out coal-fired electricity generation on a national level, according to the Energy Information Agency (EIA).

Electric cars: New vehicles to emit noise to aid safety
New electric vehicles will have to feature a noise-emitting device, under an EU rule coming into force on Monday.

It follows concerns that low-emission cars and vans are too quiet, putting pedestrians at risk because they cannot be heard as they approach.
All new types of four-wheel electric vehicle must be fitted with the device, which sounds like a traditional engine.

"They" cannot be responsible because they were in an important search/text message/tv show that could not wait while crossing the busy two lane five point intersection.

This is an odd assumption that the "noise" of an engine would tell blind people it's clear to cross. Why not use the crosswalk signal or a seeing eye dog or literally anything else besides the "cars need to make more noise so the blind don't get run over because they can't hear the car coming".

Can they not hear the wheel noise?
