Blocking social networks after terrorist attacks can do more harm than good

We should be suspicious when governments crack down on speech in the name of safety
Imagine for a moment that you run a small country prone to outbreaks of sectarian violence.

It's a lot like shutting down newspapers and telephones when something bad happens... just using one bad thing to enable another.

I'm in a two month outage with AT&T fiber. The connection isn't "down" just "not working" and no engineer at AT&T can figure anything out. We've been with the Office of the President for a week, and they only just got a ticket opened to track it!

Well, they could have just fired them. Walking out isn't something you get to just do.

Russia may soon decommission the world’s most historic launch pad

Sputnik, Gagarin, and Tereshkova all launched from here. So did Scott Kelly.
Site no. 1 in dusty Baikonur, Kazakhstan, is where it all began. In October 1957, an R-7 missile launched the first satellite, Sputnik, into space.

Coal mine leases require more study from the government before they're approved.

Experts and policymakers are wary of letting China get involved in domestic infrastructure
UK Prime Minister Theresa May has signed off on letting Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei help build “non-core” parts of the country’s 5G infrastructure, including antennas and other network components, according to The Telegraph.
