US forces have been wearing the insignia of the Perg Mersha recently. The US seems to be changing its stance slowly in the last year. But if Trump wins the election, the US will likely be totally pawns again with no thinking of their own.

Do you mean the YPG? I saw nothing at all wrong with that, it's been done before, and it wasn't a big deal until Turkey stomped their feet and whined about it like a bunch of big ass babies, then the US suddenly says "oh no, they shouldn't have done that, it was wrong!" What the hell is going on with this? Turkey is such a dump, why does the US care so much?
You can sum it up with Erdogan's statement a few weeks ago that "The Kurds [in Syria] are a bigger threat to Turkey than ISIS," and how many YPG/SDF terrorist attacks have there been in Turkey? Zero, how many ISIS? A decent amount, and this statement comes after the ISIS attack on the air port there recently as well, which the Turkish media initially claimed was Kurdish terrorists. My brother who lives in Istanbul has told me apparently every single time there's an ISIS attack, they initially claim it's some Kurdish group, and when it turns out not to be, they back off and don't even talk about it anymore.
It's profoundly racist and bizarre and I constantly see Turks online defend it or even say it's the other way around. A few weeks ago I saw a post on Reddit of some Turkish guy saying that all the Kurds live so much better than Turks, they're "wealthy" and all Turks live in slums. It was a really bizarre and backward statement, and if not for his other posts I'd assume he was just a troll. He's not the only one, you can find this constantly. There are Turks who aren't like this, unfortunately most don't seem to talk online about the issues at hand.
In addition to Armenian genocide denial which is official government policy, now there's a Turkish government sponsored web site (which I won't link to as to not help their rankings) which promotes not just denial, but claims the reverse is true, it was the mighty Ottoman Empire which was being haplessly attacked by Armenians, not the other way around and all the images of dead Armenians at the hands of Turks are actually dead Turks at the hands of Armenians, these Armenians just happen to look like Turks and wear Turkish military uniforms and clothing. The same thing is happening now with Kurds.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36800730Yeah that's pretty crazy. Two of my sisters are vacationing in a town about 10km or so from Nice, and so I tried to call them to make sure everything was fine. I couldn't get in touch with them at all. I didn't think they had gone over the Nice for the evening or anything, but after about three hours I finally got a hold of a neighbour I can't believe I still had the number for (they're in my house), he went over there and they were actually having a sort of pool-side party and their phones were inside.
Sigh
I haven't been able to sleep at all since, and that was hours ago. I'm thankful they're fine, but then you realise that a lot of people aren't going to call their families back. Truly horrific.

@scottalanmiller sad, sad news. Germany has 3 busses of schoolkids on a fieldtrip there right now. So glad my kids are home.

Something major happening in Turkey. Fighters flying over Ankara, bridge over the Bosphorus has been closed, gunfire heard.... looks like a military coup.

That would be great, seriously, I'd love that. This isn't news either, I mean in the sense of anything new. Been following this a long time:

My younger brother lives in Istanbul, so I'm always interested in how this garbage dump is going.

Holy cow this is epic... Police HQ is under military command, Ataturk is surrounded by tanks, military has announced it has full control of the country...

Oh yeah, I'm excited. This could be exactly what needs to happen. I love Turkey and the current state of things has been heading them towards a disaster. This could turn them around!
