Linux Mint: 17: MDM Login Screen
-
I'm setting up a laptop for someone to use - they don't need much in terms of software as they use a hosted database for their tasks.
So to keep costs low, I'm trying an option of using Linux Mint as the OS.Why? no other reason as to just try it.
But I would like to have the UserName on the log in screen. I've been looking at some of the documentation on altering the MDM file to allow for this, but it appears that I am missing something.
I'm not accustom to Linux,.. other than general use. But I am interested in learning.

Good use case. I would check if a Chromebook would not work better, though, before putting time into Mint. If you need something more than Chrome, Mint is excellent.

In this case I am recycling a Dell Latitude e6400 Series laptop. Nothing wrong with it, just no use in putting Vista on it to try this out. I'm interested in learning more about mint other than the limited 'rescue' I've used it for in the past... -
There is auto-login, but that is probably a step farther than you want to go.
