Windows 10 TP for phones - issues & workarounds (02/13/2015)
-
I'm on the slow deployment boat with my 620. I'll probably have to wait an age to get it. In fact, I don't know if it will make it before I upgrade (this time next year... maybe?)

Does anyone know if Microsoft removed the ROOMS feature of Windows Phone in the 10 TP? I hope they haven't ...
-
I've heard a rumor about that but hopefully only a rumor. I am sure that @David.Scammell knows. He's the Windows Phone MVP.

I currently have a 635. I think I will hit the AT&T store on the way, add another line to my account so I can keep my Galaxy S4 around incase there are problems after I upgrade to Windows 10 mobile.

OK I got the new SIM and upgraded my phone this weekend. I did an inplace upgrade and all of my old setting are still in place.
So far I notice very little change. The keyboard now has a virtual pointer in it. I haven't had the need to put the cursor in a specific spot in a line of text that I can recall, so I'm not sure how useful this will be.
The Facebook beta app no longer works. I uninstalled it and went back to the non beta version. It seems to work OK. While there is an option to hide a post, it doesn't work.
Pressing the Windows key to return home is slower than it was on 8.1.

I don't have any associates with Windows phone to try this, so I don't know.

I heard over the weekend that the ROOMS are NOT there but it doesn't mean they won't be back...it seems they are abandoning the HUBS idea...I actually liked hubs...

Odd thing I forgot to mention.
My wifi networks were forgotten when I upgraded, but my bluetooth devices were not.

Windows 10 Preview on a Lumia 830
Youtube VideoSounds a bit lackluster, but I'll wait for the propaganda releases and the reviews post retail release before passing judgement.

Overall as a new Windows Phone user I don't see much difference between Windows phone 8 and 10. I don't have any friends or family who use it so the Windows Phone only options are something I haven't dived into.
Problems I've had with WP TP 10:
The screen will go blank and not come back. I can tell it's still on and working if I press the screen I get sound feedback. To fix it I have to remove the battery.PodCast player crashes all the time
PodCast player will jump back to the beginning of the episode if you hit the skip backwards key many times in a row.
Camera takes forever to load - this could be the lack luster hardware in the 635.

Since moving my Lumia ICON to Denim., my Podcast app will crash often (but still play)...the problem with that is you can't return to NOW PLAYING in the Podcast without hitting the play button on the Podcast you are listening to and sometimes, it goes back several minutes...
I would hate for the Camera to load slow...love how it works in Denim a lot...

Well the ICON is light years ahead in hardware specs, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

I honestly could keep my Icon another 2 years or so...it is THAT good (speed and stable wise)...I totally love the phone...I don't think Verizon will pass on the next Flagship Windows Phone (excuse me, Windows for Phone, or however we may refer to it)...but if they do, I'm good with the Icon...the camera is amazing...
