70 Years since the liberation of Auschwitz

For those of us that keep a tab on historical events, the liberation of Auschwitz was one of the bigger events at the close of WWII.

The Holocaust is still one of the most horrific periods of time in the history of history. Jews weren't the only group persecuted though. And interestingly enough, there was one group in the concentration camps that was given the choice to leave but didn't. All they had to do was sign a piece of paper renouncing their faith and they would have been freed from any of the concentration camps. Although I can't say no one of that group signed, the overwhelming majority didn't. The group wore a purple triangle for identification in the camps. I'll let you look up the details if you're interested, or you're welcome to ask me personally.
Pretty sure my grandparents visited Auschwitz when they visited Germany in the late 80s. There was no grass there because the prisoners had eaten all of it...
