Gaming: What's in your Rig?
-
I don't game now, but I had various self built boxes over the years with the then current 2nd best nvidia card.
Gaming now is just helping the girls learn to play their Disney princess or Dora the explorer game on the Wii.
I tinker in the EverQuest Emulator community, but that game is 15 years old and can run on anything.

Windows 7, Intel i7 something or other, NVidia 680. SSD of course!
-
I'm not a big gamer, but I recently upgraded my home workstation so I can get 60-80FPS in my Steam games.
Except DayZ, I'm on hiatus from that.
-
At the moment I'm only running an AMD A10 APU, with 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 660 SC. Still working on building a rig in a RaidMax Augusta tower with a i7-4770K, 32 GB of RAM, dual Radeon R9 290X cards, and a dedicated soundcard and it's all liquid cooled.
-
I'm running Steam & Origin games on my Alienware M17X2 laptop. Windows 8.1 Enterprise (64-bit). Currently 8 GB of RAM. i5 Quad Core (each one @ 2.53 MHz). AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5870 video card with 1 GB onboard. 750 GB of hard drive space (250 + 500 GB drives). It was a free upgrade from a Dell XPS, so I'm not complaining! One day, I'm hoping to switch out the drives with SSDs and slap a second 5870 video card into it as well.

Command and Conquer Generals was the last PC game I truly played. I think I had a P4 with 4 Gigs RAM and an ATI 2nd level video card ($500 was enough - $800 was just crazy).
-
I'm currently playing Knight of the Old Republic on the PC via Steam. I almost never have time for it though.
-
With my daughters I am playing Chaos in Deponia.
-
@Dashrender One of my favorite RTS games, really miss when the C&C games were good.

I really cut my teeth on PC gaming with C&C and followed it all the way to Generals - to me the golden days of PC gaming. I've never been one for FPS, but I love resource management games.
-
About the only games I don't play are turn based strategy. Huge fan of racing simulators, but I've been rather disappointed by the ones for PC.
-
I don't like turn based either. Way too boring. I get distracted and do other things while waiting on people.
-
@scottalanmiller Same here. Don't mind a classic JRPG once in a while though.
-
I've bought FF7 and FF8 from Steam:)

I loved the Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest in Japan) series (1 to 4 or 5) back on my NES. Then I left the console realm and never really played the series again. I keep meaning to buy the ones I can for other platforms now, just haven't.
-
My favorite of all those games was Legend of Dragoon, which I believe was a Sony PlayStation 1 exclusive. VERY lengthy game, came on 4 discs.

Wow. Very old. Never played that one but I remember it.

Dragon Quest VII on the PS2 is one of my favorite games ever!!
-
PS2 was the best console, such a great library spanning so many genres.
-
I really loved the PS2. So good. I own like 25 amazing games for that.
