      I haven't heard any stats on it, but I am guessing that has to work nearly 100% of the time. Great tutorial!

            I prefer the ball-peen hammer approach but I didn't know an adjustable wrench was so versatile.

              I knew a guy who used to pull the clicking drive and pop it in a freezer for 30 minutes. Sometimes it worked.

                Just make sure you don't open it up and then put it in the freezer. You'll get ice particles on the head and platters.

                      Yeah, as a rule I'd agree. I like getting the magnets out of dead HDDs. Those suckers are strong!

                        Well sure, once the drive is toast you can open it. Hard drives need a clean room environment to be opened if you want them to spin again.

                            3 years ago I had to do this for a client. I was able to retrieve 30%. And had to freeze multiple times.
