The vendor finally got back to me with the below 2 links. . .

        https://www.windowstechno.com/how-to-create-custom-attributes-in-active-directory/

        https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/app-provisioning/user-provisioning-sync-attributes-for-mapping

Why couldn't the vendor just say that custom user attributes would be required?

It's really insanely poor customer service that

            1) You as the vendor don't have this documented for ready access
            2) It takes 3 weeks of calling the vendor to get this information from the vendor
            3) That the vendor doesn't even have their own cleaned up copy of this requirement listed in their documentation...

Sounds like a lot of Great reasons to walk away from that vendor! imagine what will happen when you need support?

                  If you're referring to

@Dashrender said in Active Directory - User Attribute RFID/HID Badge:

It might not be native - it very easily could be something they extend when you buy their solution.
Cisco does this with call manager - you run code against AD which adds several new attributes.

I would say, sure you mentioned new attributes but the support vendor couldn't even tell me as much. They literally had no clue how to integrate this information.

Yes, absolutely the inverse to this is that the end customer has tested numerous different devices and has found that support from all of these vendors is pretty bad.

LOL - oh I know... they are clearly failing... I hope you as the IT person are telling your bosses this is NOT the company/vendor for you. Then have them watch Scott's video on why you don't need to sell them that idea.

@Dashrender I'm a 3rd party to the end customer here. Acting as the middle man as the customer's IT department wanted to engage outside support to try and vet different products.

I candidly told the customer that while this product will work, it won't work with all of the features they want without some substantial changes to their infrastructure and that the support (at least from this vendor) is pretty awful.

The simple approach here is to not integrate RFID/HID's to the system and simply use the AD Integration with the built-in QR codes that each member is assigned.

Just because something may be supported, doesn't imply that it is support.

Except in this case the vendor very clearly has stated they support you adding custom attributes within AD.
