You sure? ML is indexed by search engines. Someone Googling "A J Stringham McAfee" may well end up here and that could be bad news for you.
Seriously, this. I cannot believe you even THOUGHT to say they would never see this. Social media searching is very common practice now for corporations large enough to have a dedicated HR department.
Why do you think I keep my employer a vague secret, not to mention my real name?
The first word of anything in life is keep your fucking mouth shut. Get arrested, lawyer up and shut your mouth. Get a new job, stroll in, keep your mouth shut until you learn the lay of the land. Join a forum, lurk and watch before spewing forth. Go into a bar, sit down and order a beer and people watch for a bit.
Oh, and a certain conference that is coming up? A certain someone shouldn't be going because he will be balls deep in training.

I'm not missing Spiceworld @PSX_Defector . Just not happening. They said training should only be about a week.

Bad, bad idea.

And you want to take a lot of time off, almost a week? Bad juju when starting a job. And just because you are not in "training" doesn't mean you are out of training.

@PSX_Defector Exactly.
Also you are just helpdesk fodder. they will not care about you.

Your ability to be fired is inversely proportional to the amount of time on the job and complexity in hiring a replacement.
I've interviewed over there multiple times and have been submitted more times than I can count. They are not hurting for replacements, not in this town.

Oh, just remember, satire usually has a basis in fact.

I took a few weeks off straight out of training before. All in knowing the environment and working it into the initial offer, not springing it once there.
-
When I lived in Hong Kong it was standard that you didn't get any holiday entitlement in your first year. In your second year you'd get a week, and after that two weeks. Crazy.
As far as I'm concerned, my staff can ask for holiday whenever they want if that's what it says in their contract. Feeling obliged to wait 3 months before asking is ridiculous.
-
I'm not too fussed about hiding my identity because I don't believe I ever write anything that is mean or that I wouldn't want my employer (or prospective employer) to know. I don't get involved in forum spats or name calling or anything. What have you got to hide @PSX_Defector?
-
I write with the assumption that I want potential employers to see what I am writing.

L0 is becoming common for "sub IT" tasks.
Good stuff.
Remember @ajstringham they don't care how good you are at Level 1.
I know this isn't your first picnic but I have observed a tendency to get a little heated seemingly unnecessarily. I know I don't know the full back story but neither will a prospective client or employer should they come across the posts.
Not being nasty or rude, just an observation.
This is why I use an alias instead of my real name. Just in case I come across that one person that pushed the big red button and I can no longer cage the rage.
That being said, it doesn't work for everyone, Scott is a prime example for reasons already mentioned.TL;DR
Be careful with what you post as it's easy to drag your own name through the mud.Best of luck though
