Is anyone else having major issues with SMBv2/v3 on Windows Server 2016? Lots of files sessions etc?

The documentation of Micrososft's website says "don't disable SMB2/3" but there isn't really anything else that would be a possible fix this annoying issue.

Do you have Macs? Could the infamous Finder Bug manifest this way on the server side?

We do, and honestly I don't know. The bulk of our issues with this have been with Macs, supposedly running

default write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores -bool TRUE and default write com.apple.desktopservices UseBareNeumeration -bool FALSE was the fix for this, but it doesn't seem to address the issue (at least not any longer. . )

@dustinb3403 Are they all running the most recent version of Mac OS? I saw much more of this a year or two ago and on systems that were 2009 and not able to be updated to the latest OS.
              Edit---
We got everyone on newer hardware, and Apple released a patch for High Sierrathat seemed to make it worse and then released another that made it less of a problem.

We keep our users very well updated.

@dustinb3403 It's been a while, but there's a set of files the Mac writes to all folders it touches. .DS_Store or something like that.

We've seen busy graphics houses have their file servers brought to their knees by this "feature".

Yeah we do have that issue, but this has persisted for longer than I've been here so I don't believe this is the root cause. Worth doing though as I'm sure there is a ton of storage being wasted on these files.

@phlipelder I thought that those files were necessary. I guess I will try to block them as long as it doesn't cause issues on the Mac side.

I don't know if they are critical or not. From what I see online files like .DS_Store is just to show metadata to the mac client. This is likely the tag color etc for the Mac Finder, which for me (personally) doesn't matter. But I'm sure it would affect business pretty heavily.
