Is this one of the USB 3.0 docking stations that Dell sells?
No, this is all pre-USB 3 equipment. 2003 era.

I would recommend to update the laptop with Dell Command Update and check if the issue continue after the update of firmware and drivers. Otherwise it is probably the charger type of the docking station or such. What is it 65 W or 135 W power adapter?

Has someone given you the idea that such an antiquated docking station is compatible with Win 10?

I've never, ever had to install docking station-specific drivers on any docked dell laptop.
It's definitely not that.
I can't even download an E-Port docking station specific driver.
I"m pretty sure that's all in the chipset drivers or something like that.
This seems to be a video driver issue of some sort.

@obsolesce we just bought one of the new style Dell docks for someone here, and on the product page, there is a link to the latest drivers... but I suppose they could be for things other than the dock. User hasn't had issues, so I haven't needed to check that page of drivers.

It used to be. They used it for years on Windows 10.

Those are different. I'm talking about the E-Port docks... the old style. Dell laptops Latitude Exx70 and below use the old style. I purposely got a 70 instead of 80 because I wanted the old style. I'm not yet a huge fan of the USB3 or USB-C docks. I've had issues with them and I didn't feel like having to deal with a cord. I always like the E-port style, it just seems easier and more convenient. At least in my case, that dock stays on my work desk and never moves. Maybe the USB ones are better if you need a more portable dock.

Was that a USB3.0 dock? The Dell ones are rebranded Plugable devices. Which need the USB display adapter driver (Displaylink I think) to work correctly.

It was a USB-C one.

The Service tag reports it being shipped in Sept 2013, warranty expired in 2014. It is the E-port series - a TRUE docking station. Drivers updated (as mentioned). System was also shipped as a Windows 8 Pro system, but is currently running Win10.
-
it should be noted that
- it's current build is Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.112]
it is possible that rolling back (if possible) to 16299.492 would resolve - which at a point - becomes a 'fresh install' as roll back expires.
And since this is a remote system, not convenient to do.
