Blocking phone numbers

Do you do it? We frequently get calls where caller asks for someone by first name only, or for someone who hasnt worked here in years, or the 'printer person', or they refuse to say who they are.
Ive just started blocking numbers like this(at least the ones that arent Anonymous), receptionist is happier. I do look up the number first on google to see if it is mentioned on 800notes or those other sites where people login to complain about phone calls.
Generally i have found the numbers are sold or used in blocks of a few contiguous numbers like 123-1230 123-1231 123-1232 etc if the operation is serious about their fraud.
The portal for our voip provider makes this incredibly easy to do. -
Ultimately I think this is little more than a game of whack-a-mole. Anyone worth their salt can make their outgoing number be anything they want, so, there is likely very little to be gained here.

It is even easier than you think because numbers can be provisioned via API.
So new number, 50 calls, delete number, get new number, 50 calls, etc.
50 is a made up exaggeration, but you get the point.

@jaredbusch Yes i understand this, a bit like blacklisting IP or domain names manually. One i just blocked has had the same # though since 2013 according to google. I will see what happens.

Twilio makes this trivial.

Makes blocking numbers trivial or getting a new number to spam people?

New numbers to spam people. you can autogenerate them via API.

The portal for our voip provider makes this incredibly easy to do.I do block some numbers and anonymous calls, but as stated above if they want to keep coming, it will come with the same 201-xxx phone number and they just randomize it. (That's my case).
