MoviePass CEO Backpedals After Accidentally Admitting to Spying on Customers

@momurda isn't MoviePass primarily for the purposes of ticket discounts?
I almost never go to the theater, and thus wouldn't bother with an app like this. I didn't think this app was meant to rent movies on your phone. . .

@mlnews Who the bleep would use a bleeping app like this piece of bleep? What is the purpose? Seriously i am going to pay a monthly fee to watch new movie releases on my 4" phone screen with .5W speakers that have range of 120hz to 14khz?
MoviePass is an app to get you access to the actual movie theaters. It doesn't give you anything on your phone.
-
@scottalanmiller So this company makes money by giving you unlimited access to movie theatre for 8 dollars a month? A movie ticket costs 15 dollars. Even stupider than i thought.

Yes, my wife's family uses it heavily as they love going to the movies. It makes the movies nearly free for them.
Movie theaters love it since all the profit is in the food anyway.
-
@scottalanmiller Not possible they are making money. No wonder they are tracking everything, allegedly.

It's possible, but seems unlikely. Why do you feel that they are not making money?

$22? Ouch, I'd so much rather be unemployed and living here then employed in most other areas of the country. That's like $9 here.
