I heard that those stuff, are the reason why Arak killed people:

Mention arak around some people though and they will be quick to tell you of all the dangers of arak. You might hear “it will make you go blind” or “it killed a friend of my friend”, among many other stories. To be fair, these aren’t just rumors. A few years back, over 25 people died on Bali from a single batch of arak. The scary part was this was the type that was regulated, taxed and sold in stores, not the traditional kind the Balinese drink.
No amount of ethanol creates blindness. That comes from someone mixing (or leaving) methanol (wood alcohol) in which is far cheaper to use and is poisonous to humans. It causes your body to process it into formaldehyde which collects in the eyeballs cooking them from the inside out. Actual ethanol alcohol (the kind you drink) is actually the only antidote for methanol poisoning.
huh - I didn't know that. cool.
I mean... if you drink ethanol until you die, you are blind too, I guess

Well then, learn something new every day.
The underlying reason here is that your body can process ethanol or methanol but not both. Your body can also process formaldehyde but only a little at a time. But it does this in parallel with alcohol processing. You can safely drink methanol up to the point that you have too much formaldehyde in your system. It's the formaldehyde that kills you.
So the way it works is, if you have methanol in you to a dangerous point (which isn't much) the only way to convince your body to not process it too quickly (remember, the faster your body processes methanol the more formaldehyde builds up, unprocessed methanol just makes your stomach queasy) is to make it spend more time processing ethanol.
So what they do for methanol poisoning is to induce extreme alcohol (ethanol) poisoning on top of it to shut down your body as much as possible so that the methanol processes slowly enough that your body can dispose of the formaldehyde before it builds up enough to start cooking your organs chemically. As long as they can slow your methanol processing down enough and not kill you with ethanol, your body will eventually clean the mess up.

Who here feel better digestion after drinking liquor (my stuff is 104 proof) ? all the internet says it does not help digestion.
But every time I want to get rid of bloated stomach after big meal, it is the quickest way. Arak burns everything down there.

Delicious!

I feel better with some. After about ten shots of the hard stuff, that starts to reverse.
