Bose Headphones Slurp Up Your Data and Send it to Third Parties
-
Those expensive hipster Bose headphones that people love to wear, well they are costing you more than just the cash that you laid out for them. Turns out that Bose uses its digital connection technology to pick up rather a lot of information from your phone including playlists, personal identification information, listening habits and so forth. To make matters worse, it doesn't just collect the data but it sends it directly to a third party who can do anything with it that they want. Of course that disclaimer that you bypass says this, but no one reads those so Bose has been doing this mostly without anyone having any idea.

This is going to be true for ANY app you install. C'mon people! I purchased a set of Jaybird X3 earbuds recently (btw best set of bluetooth earbuds I've ever used) and when I installed the mobile app, I took the time to read their privacy policy. I was about 2 chapters into the policy when I decided to remove the app from my iPhone. There's no way I'm allowing that kind of privacy invasion. I get that you want to get some information, but knowing my geo-location every time I use the earbuds, nah, not for me thanks.

@NashBrydges are you returning the earbuds?

I assume that they work just fine without an app.

@DustinB3403 No I kept them. As Scott mentioned they work just fine without the app. I just can't get the fine-tuned EQ settings from the app so I have to use the phone settings.
