      Original Article

He is having issues with his XS installation, from the sounds of it XAPI is hung, and needs to be restarted. Posting to draw some eyes to it.

I would start with some basic troubleshooting, check your boot device for enough free space, and continue from there. Might just need to restart the host (or just XAPI) from the CLI.

Here's some instruction on checking the dom0 storage.

If you are unable to access the host remotely using XenCenter or Xen Orchestra or SSH you'd have to go to the physical console (if there is one).

From the local console you can type service xapi status and determine if XAPI is in fact running

Here is the result of service xapi status:

            ● xapi.service - SYSV: XenServer server
               Loaded: loaded (/etc/rc.d/init.d/xapi)
              Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/xapi.service.d
                       └─local.conf, slice.conf
               Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Tue 2016-12-06 13:53:37 GMT; 3h 0min ago

I should mention that I'm able to access the host via Putty, I just can't connect via XenCenter. I tried restarting XAPI, the toolstack, and the host itself.

@tyh if you just want a backup, use veaam endpoint backup in the VM.

Via PM the topic has evolved a bit, he wants Continuous Replication (which he was trying to achive using HA-Lizard) on an already running 2-node pool.

At this point he just needs to get back up and running, which honestly paying the HA-Lizard guys for 2 hours may be the best approach, since HA-Lizard is not at all meant to be installed to running systems with attached storage (as it configures this for you).

Once you're back up and running, look at Xen Orchestra.

Thanks, guys. If I'm unable to get XAPI up and running I may look at involving HA-Lizard support. I'm taking things cautiously at the moment as my VMs are still operational, so I've got a bit of time to find the best approach.

                      I thought HA-lizard didn't work on XS7?

They were developing a solution for it, which may have been released.

Might make sense if this is actively in production and XAPI just won't come back.
