Shared Calendar Exchange 2016 - Non Outlook user
-
We upgraded to Exchange 2016 in July. The president of the school is a 100% mac user and refuses to use Outlook apps as they are too troublesome (his words).
I need to be able to create a shared contact list in Exchange that his secretary can edit and he can somehow import into his Mac Mail. The issue is if she makes a change, we don't want it to duplicate the contacts on his Mac only add the new ones.
I just read something about public folders but I thought those were gone since Exchange 2010.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that Mac Mail integrated nicely with Exchange (including Contacts & calendards, etc)?
Has this been tested?
-
I have not tested as I am trying to figure out where to start. The other issue is that he will change mail clients at his leisure. I don't think he'll by it if I tell him that staying in Mac Mail or moving to Outlook across all of his Apple Products will solve all his issues.

If he wants things to work well (or correctly), he will need to pick a Mail client and stick with it.
The last time I used Mac Mail & iPad Mail, they would sync contacts, calendars, and everything.

Can it be shared out so the secretary can edit?

We still do public folders even on 0365. But they are considered depreciated I believe.
I would just tell him if he wants the features to work he needs to use the standard issue clients.

It does but it uses active sync only just like mobile devices so some of the features like sharing, public folders etc will be limited. It needs additional connections for that. Heck I think on Macs the GAL isn't even supported.

It's been a few years since I've touched a Mac on Exchange, but ours worked well with it, and Calendar sharing as well. (We didn't use public folders or anything).
