Speaking with @aboyd this morning about how vendors could have better interaction at MangoCon. One of the big feedback items that we agreed upon was that it might be good for vendors to go for empty vendor tables in the vendor area.... have a table with swag, info, business cards, advertising and such and maybe something like pictures of the vendor reps that are at the conference with information about who they are and how to find them - but instead of spending all of the time siting at the table or booth, instead attending sessions and walking around the whole time.

There value of people going to the booths is low, but the interaction and involvement of being in the sessions, being involved in the activities, being out with the after parties, the open bar time, giving presentations, and such are where the big value is. The booths are useful, but staffing them mostly isn't. People do stop by, but they will seek people out walking around as well.

I like this. The one kind of awkward thing about talking at a table is what I consider the hard sell. Bumping into, or even seeking out a vendor away from a table, to me personally at least, seem much more like an informational exchange.

I also think this is a good idea.

I think that vendors tend to like that, too.

Having the vendors sit down and talk with us during the sessions would be a great solution, so long as it doesn't take away from the presentation at the time.

Something that might be better and worked well IMO was with Max from StarWind, he stayed around, and had conversations with us about the solution, future plans etc.

He was open to have the discussion.

@Rob did this as well, he and I spoke for probably close to 2 hours about his solution, was to expand it and improve solutions.

Now just having enough downtime between the sessions is what provided this, and was really insightful/enjoyable.

The hard part of this is when do we have the time.

I think the more relaxed schedule @Minion-Queen tweaked things to as things went on would work well for this type of model.

With a session and then 30 minute BS session and on to the next session.

@JaredBusch that's true. The pace was a bit exhausting.

It was. But Friday was more than a bit lax.
