Details are not yet released, but AetherStore's @rob Macinnis announced at this morning's MangoCon Day Three opening session that AetherStore is going to be releasing a "per node capacity restricted" freemium fog storage product that will be available for download soon. Details to come as they are announced.

Tagging @shannon and @aboyd as well.

If it doesn't work, try refreshing the browser. We are having a lot of WiFi issues, it might be a network blip.

This is the first time I've heard the term Fog Storage or Fog Computing as mentioned somewhere else... What the heck is it? Cliffnotes version will suffice.

borrowing compute/storage resources from other sorta local devices.

You install a client on each endpoint/computer that has resources you want to make available to the pool. Then you can, in the case of storage, carve out some storage from each endpoint and they will be pooled as a single drive that 'hangs' off a server/whatever, then share that out as a source to use for say, a backup target.

With compute power, you have clients that belong to a pooled resource. The control head (if there is one) sends out job work and data to a client in the pool, the client does the work and returns the results - think of the old SETI screensaver software.

Rob's other idea with the compute is the use of a URI (Uniform Resource Identifier). There would be a controller/service on some device on the network that recognizes the URI request is being made. It would create a compute container for that specific type of URI. That container would now handle all calls for that URI as long as it's needed. When not needed or it gets disrupted for any reason, then it spins up another container somewhere else to handle the URI traffic.

There is a whole video to explain it coming soon... pending @MarigabyFrias's availability and throughput.
