Video Conferencing Software

Right when I was hired an order for two Touch Smart TV's with E-boards was put in. They want to use them for video conferencing. What software do you guys recommend? They literally just want audio/video conferencing through PC's. I was thinking Skype but this isn't something I've really needed to research until today.

We use Webex (but we already had a paid subscription when we added video conferencing gear). Works fine, not sure what it costs per month / per user. I was pushing to move to free Skype, but they don't listen to me. But Webex has added screensharing / remote control features on top of video conferencing, so may be overkill for your needs.

What about your normal phone system? Most PBX do video calling naturally. This can be a really handy way for internal calls.

We could do that with a Smart TV? We have Cisco CM but I want to get rid of it.

Always thought they could only do voice, I am going to have to test this.

Google Hangouts coupled with RingCentral to give you a voice only bridge if you happen to need that as well.
Example of it in action: Hangouts and RingCentral
For meeting rooms add in a Chromebase for Meetings machines or re-purpose a cheap 2nd hand Chromebox by using Ctrl+Alt+H to put into Hangouts kiosk mode. Still need the CfM annual license but saving about 50% on unit cost is nice.

GoTo Meeting is pretty reasonable
Zoom seems to be pretty good
Skype... I'm not convinced it's any good for more than one on one
LifeSize ClearSea was good when I used it 5 years ago

FreePBX and any Asterisk based system does full video by default. It's pretty slick. You can use video phones without any special configuration at all.
