What Are You Doing Right Now
-
Start my new job Sept. 14th. Starting to get really excited/throw-up on my desk nervous.
-
@coliver What company are you moving to?
-
-
@coliver congrats man! don't let the stress get to you, it'll be fine
-
@coliver Yeah... Maybe you will run into some folks who remember you... you were a good student, right? Didn't try hacking the servers to change grades, etc, etc?
-
Making a veggie burger for lunch. Haven't had a bite all day.

I wasn't just kind of dropped into my lap.

I can't take it. How many things wrong in a single post?
- Stating a solution without a problem to solve. Didn't think at the goal level or even reasonably approximate it. Basic misunderstanding of how to ask someone for help or how to rely information.
- Wants to use a SAN without even knowing what one is. What would make someone want to build and deploy something without even knowing what it would do!!!?!?
- Wants a SAN that is NTFS aware. What does that even mean? By definition, not possible.
- Wants to use Windows for the mistaken reason stated above.
- Wants to use a version of Windows already two releases old and right on the verge of being three.
- Skipping virtualization and wanting to deploy legacy Windows to bare metal.
- RAID 5 on a new spindle-based array.
Ugh. How does someone get so deep into a project before bothering to even look up the Wikipedia entry as to what the terms mean that they are using?!
-
Even after being pointed out that he was doing something crazy, he tried to cover up by claiming that SAN doesn't mean block protocol. He had the predictable fight or flight response and completely fell apart. Definitely a guy who was bluffing and is so bad at IT that he could not even tell what sounded reasonable or not.

@scottalanmiller Don't let that shit get to you man, it's just more business for us later

I don't let it get to me. It was just so ridiculous I wanted to document it

Just saw a great follow up on a two year old project for RLS that went smoothly:

That guy should have read: http://www.amazon.com/Predictably-Irrational-Revised-Expanded-Edition/dp/0061353248

Nice, not often that people come back and report on that kind of stuff.
-
I suppose, not too often that they take advice either.
