What Are You Doing Right Now

I know that I am behind the times, but finally added PoE to my house. Now going around collecting all of the injectors and wall warts that we don't need any longer.

Finished moving a group of Hyper-V servers, firewall, and switches to a new MDF room. Also had to re-splice the fiber from the ISP because mice got into the tray. ISP decided that it could wait until next week. Customer gave me the green light after he spoke to the ISP's owner. Fun times.

And I'm redoing my home network this weekend. Getting my PoE switch added back to the mix and VLANing off the work network stuff.

Nice. I'll be hopefully doing something similar next week. I have a sliding shelf coming for my rack to put my Dell T420 on (significantly cheaper than the rack conversion kit), and will also do some network cable management

I'm planning to build myself an 18u rack, but want to add a shelf to the top/back and a monitor mount to the side. So lots of woodwork to do to get what I want. The home office is small, so I need to maximize space usage.

just went to log into my old yahoo acoount.
upon doing so it asked me to confirm my security stuff.
it put up a secondary email address, saying i'd confirmed it 19 years ago, which would be accurate.
where'd all that time go???I'm surprised you've still got access and it hasn't ben hacked
There was a massive breach a few years ago.Yeah, I remember that. I don't use the account for anything serious, it's just a 20 year old junk account..

Dallas News, who are supposed to at least be trained on how to properly read words, just pronounced Descartes as "Dez Cart Ayes" instead of "day cart". Like, this is basic middle school "famous scientists", how does someone get to read the news and not know these basics. This is like not knowing Aristotle or Galileo. Argh, Texas education shakes fists in air

I remember years ago that Jason guy who knew nothing about video but always claimed to be some kind of video expert used to claim that having 4K video wouldn't matter because the cameras available to people were so bad that you couldn't see the difference between 1080p and 4K. It was absurd to think that he could get away with the claim at the time, but can you imagine how obviously dumb that would sound to be said today? Like every consumer phone shoots in 4K and holy crap can you see the difference. I was looking for that thread just to remind people of what a ridiculous statement that was, but wasn't able to find it.
Found a lot where he was claiming to be the god of standards and making up his own list of how the world works, but not that one. What a loon that guy was.

That explains the necro-posting

I ended up not bothering with any VLANs and just created a different network segment for the wired work stuff, and made the wireless work network a guest in the UniFi controller. Now at least the 2 won't mix, and I won't forever see their UniFi 8port PoE switch hanging around on my controller.
