Phone interview when really well. That said I match with the culture well. They are getting an in person interview together with the executive management team in VA which is suppose to be about 4hrs long on Monday or Tuesday. And then the following week either have me come to Indiana or the Indiana management team come here.
Awesome, congrats.
Thanks. They said there's options to move to Kansas too. I no very little about Kansas.
-
Did they mention a city in Kansas? It's a large state with several mid-sized cities.

Sometimes I wrap my day as a present to my night.

I'd avoid Kansas City myself, unless you end up down south, but the other cities are pretty nice.

Do I want to know which laptop is dead?
Uhm,... Depends. It might be that laptop,.. or that other one. It's not my personal laptop.
And really,... it's not dead,. it just won't POST, nothing on screen, seems to 'power cycle' itself. CPU fan and HDD power cycle at the same time.
I could replace the MOBO,.. but is that really practical.

Depending on the age, probably not or else he'd have called the vendor by now I assume.

Is it a Dell laptop from the early 2000s? Just had the same thing happen to one of ours. Would power cycle continuously until you pulled the battery. Even the hardware 10-sec switch wouldn't shut it down.

Dude upgraded my purchase from the HP Pro X2 612 4GB Ram 128GB SSD to a HP Pro x2 612 8GB RAM 256gb SSD. And then gave me 70% (the low spec one I actually ordered) off the base model. Awesome Reps. Didn't request it or anything. I think I will like this better than the Surface Pro 3 (thanks to @Kelly for posting about it.)
Thanks UPS!
Well UPS sucks but HP is cool.

I like dell desktops for enterprise. but, the laptops seem to lack the quality of the bussiness models should have. HP seems to do better but I don't really like using two vendors for computers.

Oh, and the place actually stays up to date. almost all Win 2012 R2 servers, a handful of 2k8 r2. and Esxi 5.5. Desktops all windows 7, and planning to migrate to windows 10 within the next 6-9 months as they've already been testing it with the technical preview.

Odd. I've had the opposite experience. Dell desktops have been lackluster for me, while the HP ones I have are workhorses. Dell laptops are fantastic but the HP ones I inherited were sub-par and mostly broken when I got here, only 1-2 years old most of them.

We've had good luck with HP commercial laptops. Many, many years from them. Often pushing towards a decade.

Cool, sounds like a good environment to get into, good luck on the follow up interviews. Any Linux in there?

Yep, I've heard that from a number of people. I may give them another try soon, I think the ones I had were Newegg/TigerDirect specials.

I've had good luck with the HP workstation (hp z series) class stuff for desktops. but the mid/low end business hasn't been great. the Dell Laptops always break we just decided that was a cost of using laptops and limited laptops down to people that really needed them got and didn't worry about it.

That would do it. Those are not made by HP. I have a 2012 HP that is so good I still keeping thinking that it is brand new!
