See, millenials and their Apple products, lol
Not just millennials.... My aunt and uncle who're north of 65 only have apple devices, same thing for some of the folks on the spouse's side of the family.
I'm not saying ONLY Millenials have them. Anyone who is senile at any age.... hahaha.
But no, it's just the strong "everything has to be Apple or a big low quality, big budget brand name" is a very millenial thing. They are much more brand driven I feel than other generations.
-
@scottalanmiller That's because many of them are dumb and do not understand what makes a product good.

Well, that's one way to look at it. But another way is to say that they tend to "prioritize brand recognition as the most important aspect of a good". It's just the thing that they care about. It's not really for us to say that their consumer values are "wrong", silly and immature, absolutely. Not good for them, sure. But all consumerism is based around "personal perceived value" and it is actually wrong to apply "business value", which is a universal, to "consumer value", which is a relative.
-
Easy way to think of it...
Business Value: How does this make me more money?
Consumer Value: How does this make me feel?
-
@scottalanmiller Yeah, that's another way to look at it...

Hey now..
If I recall, you're Gen Z, not Gen Y, so you're not a millenial. Post-Millenial - or whatever the name is in use today.
He's not THAT young!

Correct However, I dont use "FaceTime" as my means of communication. I dont even own a single Apple Product .
Well, those things are very Millenial. Apple is the "millennial product", brand over substance.
Everyone I know owns Apple Products.
It's ridiculous.Only because it was given to me by a doctor. Otherwise nope, Android I would have, at this point.

This actually makes some sense - if you stay all inside apple, then things seem to work better, less issues, of course, less connectivity to those that don't have apple devices.

Nothing wrong with living at home as long as you are contributing something to it... or the parents start charging you rent, lol.

I have a very American way of looking at that - so on the surface I say you're dead wrong. But upon deeper reflection, meh - whatever.
But still having an iPhone over a car - unless you work from home or are actually taking public transportation, seems like a crazy situation. And this town we live is is horrible for public transport, so while it is there, if you don't live in a very specific part of town, it's pretty useless. i.e. the near bus stop to my house if more than 5 miles away.

Good luck, and remember that 1st tier support is only ever a bait-n-switch scheme with them.

I totally agree with you about an iPhone over a car!
Getting kicked out of the house at 18 (or whatever) is definitely very much an Americanism. Not something my family has been prone to do. Almost every cousin of mine has (or does) live with their parent(s) at some point after graduating into adulthood.
It largely depends on the family situation and how well everybody gets along, lol.

But you NEED a phone, so having the iPhone is probably only a tiny bit more than some other phone. more, but not a car more. Would having a crappier phone get them a car? Not likely.

Not an American thing, it's just an affluence vs. cost of housing factor. All countries with similar housing and cost of living ratios have people move out. All countries where income is much lower compared to housing cost have people live at home.
