Unifi or EdgeSwitch ???
These will be install in Shops.
Requirements:-
PoE
24 or 48 ports
Central Management.I already have unifi AP's in all stores but they will over the next 6-12 months have phones and new equipment so looking to get something in that i can see dfrom one place. At the moment we have a mix of managed/unmamaged/smart/PoE - Netgear/Cisco/SMC/HP
What is peoples preferance?
I'm happy to install the UNMS controller as a new VM
But are the Unifi Switches that much different? -

But are the Unifi Switches that much different?I don't think they are exceedingly different. They have a different firmware on them but I thought the hardware was pretty much the same under the hood. @JaredBusch would know more.

But are the Unifi Switches that much different?UNMS can see EdgeSwitch hardware, but you cannot do anything with it yet. That is coming in UNMS 0.14.
UniFi does have management of UniFi Switches obviously.

@coliver That's the impression i got from them
-
@jaredbusch Not too bothered what UNMS can't do yet. As long as "it's coming".
I'm temped to just go EdgeSwitch as when we redo out network here and the bigger offices i was going to use them so nice to keep it all the same.

Ubiquiti's method for adding a new device to UNMS is
Release 1: Make device talk to UNMS, backup config, and update firmware
Release 2: Get basic detail information
Release 3: get basic control
Release +: Additional Features -
@jaredbusch If you were adding switches to 60 sites what would you choose.
Central View only stats is fine for now but to be able to change stuff and static routers from sed console would be nice. -
@hobbit666 I'm guessing the Edge line as it has additional functionality.

Lunch. Brahms with a double bacon cheeseburger, fries, and peanut butter cup shake.
Other than that it is early registration and users have chosen today to do all their stupid stuff at once. Also been programming our new dorm locks for keyless entry -
