About to do some more painting. So much home repair to do.
Home Ownership... the joys.
Things needed here:
- exterior paint and caulk
replacement of dead shrubslandscaping (rock not mulch)- repair Front door (de-laminating)
Sow Seed, weed controlrepair chain sawmaintenance on mowermaintenance on trimmeredging the sidewalk / driveway- repair/replace mailbox
- replace septic tank access block
and a few other things.... sigh.. And that' is just outside,.. just as long a list for inside.
Hire lawn care. Half of your list is now cleared up.
Our plan is to totally remove the lawn.
Not an option -
What would you replace it with? -

What would you replace it with?So the biggest "problem" lawn for us is the front one. It's small, so the plan is to plant three or four trees (or large shrubs like cape myrtle) with big areas around them (mulch, stone) and put in a big herb area of lavender and rosemary against the house and a small path across the front. That's enough to pretty much eliminate all of the grass. There is so little already, it's easier than it sounds.

I've been thinking about doing that to our small front yard.

In the back, it's a lot more space, but a lot more flexibility. A huge portion of the lawn will be replaced with a new office we plan to construct back there. That's 8'x15' of structure plus a slab quite a bit larger than that. Then we want to put in planters and walk ways to cover the remaining space. I have to build a retaining wall which I'll have to do by hand, so that we can start to level the yard before doing too much. But overall, we have limited space, so getting to zero grass is easier than it sounds.

We are thinking a Mediterranean garden like we are used to in Italy, Spain, and Greece. I really would like a rosemary hedge, which is common there. Keeps the nasty bugs away and smells great. And grows well locally here.

Printed my first asset tags with SnipeIT today using a BP-730 label printer and some checkerboard security labels (the type of sticker that can't be removed without destroying it).
Setting up the printer wasn't fun, but the result is great.

Hiring someone to do it requires funds not currently available.
Sad, but true.

Staying on track with that... Is this the same rosemary that can be used in cooking?

It is. Rosemary will grow like crazy in the right spot. And it smells so amazing.
