What the crap was this?
Misconfiguration by the IT. The OP needs to understand how big is the impact of users accessing a DC over RDP...

Fort Mountain sounds like a location from Dora the Explorer.

First we go to Big Forest, then up to Fort Mountain and get the magic amulet to save the squirrels!

Looking at Sharepoint tutorials to see if I could make use of it with my LLC, since I have a one-license subscription to Office 365 Business Premium.

Correct. User = me. I've never used Sharepoint before, so I figure I can use this to poke around and learn.

In particular I'm interested to seeing how sharing works with people outside of my organization (such as having a site to possibly share files with my saxophone students).

SP is pretty useless as a one user solution. It's function is sharing.

Yeah. As I'm poking around I see that. Looks great for making an Intranet for an organization, or possibly replacing file servers that are mainly serving document files.

Yeah, that's what it exists for.

It looks like you could set up a site where you give a customer access should you have the need to collaborate with them on documents.

Yes, it is sometimes used for that.

Honestly is a much bigger hastle than its worth. Unless you're putting in many hundreds of man hours, id find a better solution.
