That one guy actually said that he didn't like the idea of reducing points of failure. WTF. What is wrong with people?

This kind of thinking will get you into trouble: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1995474-how-would-you-explain-hyperconvergence-to-users-give-your-best-analogy?page=1#entry-6898373
That guy with the eggs in one basket. . . wtf. . . glad I haven't been on SW's in a while.
Why do you guys go back there and torture yourselves so? I answer the daily question and that's about it, lol.

I liken it to being able to replace a single chain link in the entire chain. Sure the bike is broken either way, but this single chain link is easily replaced.
Why he wants a chain that's a mile long I have no clue, but hey, more power to him.

I don't even do that. I stay clear of it.

Because I avoid those questions

That thread is so bad it begs the question that I often think... would these guys be terrified to find out that their boss read what they wrote?
Things like "I hate protecting my business from risk." When you say something that pretty openly equates to that, how would a manager or owner see that? Are they like "huh... no wonder our systems are so complex, fragile and expensive - he's likely doing that to protect his job or something."

I've no doubt there are folks that operate like this on purpose, not just accidentally.

A lot of them. I've seen tons admit it, so I assume tons hide it, as well.

That last analogy doesn't even make any sense. I've got no idea what they are saying there.

The donut one? Yeah I don't get it.

I stopped doing the daily question and refused to ever touch it again when I missed a Monday holiday and it reset my counter. I'm sorry, any gamification that requires me to engage during my day off is not something I want to engage in.

I look at my feed and see that 90% of the threads are about something to which I can't contribute much if anything.

I find that the only things that I can contribute in many cases sound snarky.
- How do I patch Windows? <-- WTF, what have you been doing up until now
As an example. And the 300th "I want to advance my career now that I've been in IT for twenty years. I have a PhD and have built super computing clusters. My research tells me that getting the A+ is the first step to advancing my career, is that what you all think?"
-
Listening to FM radio... cuz - I can.
-
And now that IIS thread... I think that guy is confused about what an application is.

And another analogy that makes no sense. I'm so lost. I've definitely learned that HC is beyond peoples' abilities. Too complex to explain.
