Really.... need insane performance from storage for a database, needs RAID 10 SSDs.... but is building their database server on a cheap gaming whitebox desktop with a 1.GHz processor!
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1722048-raid-10-on-a-budget-diy-server
These requirements do not go together!
On and Windows bare metal install.
Dammit, I had just gotten over the headache caused by reading that thread, and here it is again!
Gah, you made me look.

@scottalanmiller damn Scott take it easy on the poor guy... did I just see you recommend RAID 5???
Yep. SSD is not spinning platters of rust, different types of failure and rebuild times on the two types of drives.
-
I wonder if Simon Travaglia frequents SW...
The latest BOFH sounds very much like several threads discussed here.

Trying to figured out if there's any chance Installing VirtualBox inside a virtual machine.

https://mangolassi.it/topic/9848/installing-virtualbox-inside-a-virtual-machinePossible, yes. Good idea, no. Something another VM won't solve I take it?
-
Only 1 more VM to "reinstall" onto XenServer then hopefully set-up some backups too.
-
Just getting back on ML after a few days away. Surprised to see there weren't a million more threads than there were.

There should be no issue, but you may not get VT-x inside the guest because VirtualBox can't do V-in-V AFAIK (aka nested virtualization, haven't checked that in a while). The guest OS running the inner VirtualBox basically is not aware of the fact it is running virtual.
Edit-1: Hyper-V can do nested virtualization after a little hack. Can do a quick search for the link if you need that.
Edit-2:
https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4032
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63313At least 32-bit OS'ses should do as guests.

I think it normally takes a long time for them to call because they don't have working phones.

My wife and I binged Stranger Things over the weekend, in between diaper changes and feedings, excellent show. Some very cliche moments but overall the acting, action, and story were pretty much perfect.

I think that I saw @AVI-NetworkGuy recommending that show on Facebook last night. I've never heard of it before.

We only watched the first episode yet, and I think we'll see at least a few more.

It was released on Friday. It's a homage to the 80's horror and small town movies. Lots of King, Carpenter, and Spielberg influences can be seen throughout. It was really good. I highly recommend it.
