What Are You Doing Right Now

When I worked for IBM they were actually on Token Ring, and not even the modern stuff with RJ45 connectors. So embarrassing.
My first network was the 75 ohm coax cable that was ethernet... but it was the 10meg stuff that had the 10-base T connectors and always had to have the computers at both ends with the caps on that completed the circuit.
The first network I ever touched, was for my highschool. We pulled out the old 10-base T stuff, and put in shiney new Cat 5. (this was in 1997).

Ha 10base-T was another couple questions on the test.

@johnhooks O.o You should run from that job. Run away.... far, far away... Unless they offer you a large amount of money, lol.

Ha that's the sad part. It's not even a job offer. It's just the test to be able to apply for jobs with the state.
They wonder why they have no money and no talent.

In my college days (circa 1993-1994) I spent a whole summer rewiring token ring connectors. My fingers were never so sore.
-
@BRRABill A couple of years ago, we did a full network overhaul... the full-time staff, and student workers spent every spare moment for about 3 months making patch cables, lol.

Jobs like that and lots of money never go together.

Before I got into IT when I worked the overnight on a desk at a midline hotel I had a couple guys from the state approach me since I had an MCSE and try to get me to apply for a job with the state. I laughed when I learned what they earned being already employed and one of them was a manager. I was like "I wouldn't even accept your job right now and I'm working in a hotel!"

That basically what I did the entire summer as a student worker. Bleh.
Met my wife that summer though, so ... all good.

I've never been aware of them wondering that.

That is what hell will be. Putting an RJ45 on and one pair be too short, so you have to cut it off and do it again, forever.

Ya I might be giving them too much credit. I know some of the lower workers wonder why they don't have any talent.

Vanilla pudding with whip cream because..... because I don't owe you people any explanation.

How many takes did it get to get the "full mouth" just right?

Only one believe it or not. But my wife figured out what was going on partway through and made me laugh and I half choked on the whipped cream and lost a lot of it.
