We have a client or two that will not be happy about this at all.

Apple tends to not support old stuff. In the Windows lifespan, 8 is still new. From an Apple perspective, it's mature. From an Apple perspective, 7's graying.

In my perspective too. Now that I'm on 8.1 and see 9 not that far away, running 7, two gen old, seems, well... old.

If clients want flexibility two things they shouldn't do:

              • Commit to Windows but not to the Windows vision
              • Use Mac

Boot camp isn't the ONLY option - folks wishing to avoid Windows 8 can use something like Parallels. (which I've never minded)

I use Parallels myself, but I really HATE the fact that they have never supported the Japanese keyboard. it make typing in Windows a pain in the ass. I mean it is only keymapping, why can they not spend a little time and do it right? They have done it for numerous other languages.

Wow.. Windows 8 is only 18 months old - this does seem kind of quick to me. But yeah when you consider that Windows 7 is 5 years old this year I suppose it makes sense.

And @scottalanmiller who, besides you and NTG, Truely buys into the Windows vision? No company large or small I know of stays anywhere near on top of things like Windows versions. LOL a thought question, not a real one.

It's funny. I'm on Linux all day but people think I'm part of the Windows vision. I think companies should go to Linux mostly. Just a bettering offering today. Windows 8 is rough.

But companies need to realize, choosing products that they don't believe in will never end well. Never has in the past, won't in the future.

That requires that those same people first have a vision of where they are going. More often than not I see people being lead by a vendor/product they choose without taking the requirements of said product into consideration.

I'm very much into the Windows ecosystem. With the exception of Hyper-V and the now-defunct TMG, the MS platform is an amazing dynamo of interoperability and centralized management.
