CrashPlan Terms of Service

No problems with me so far...
-
I have always heard that CrashPlan allows servers and has no restrictions as to the type of backups that are allowed.
-
so crash plan is cheap....

Hello Kyle, is there any more information you would like to add while I review your initial question?
Kyle
not yet
besides waiting that long for support is kinda silly. but not your fault
Chris H
What can I answer for you today?
Kyle
I'm thinking about using crashplan for a few file servers at a client. is that allowed?
Chris H
Yes.
Kyle
and for 9.99 a month?
a piece?
Chris H
With PRO, yes. It’s $9.99/month per machine, for unlimited archive size.
Kyle
So i can archive from today til forever on these 6 file servers?
Chris H
You can back up, but you wouldn’t want to purposefully delete the files and leave them in the cloud. But your archive will have every version of all of your files for as far back as you need them.
Kyle
Do you guys have a product that works with ESXI? Virtual Machines?
Chris H
Virtual Machines, yes. You can back them up as another computer, or back up their contents from the host OS (you don’t want to try to back up the entire VM, though, as they bloat the backup and cause CrashPlan to get stuck on their updates, which leaves other data on your machine at risk).Let me check with an Enterprise agent about ESXI, and they have more experience with Hyper-V and the like. One moment, please.
Kyle
OK thanks.
Chris H
I’ve gotten word back that CrashPlan works with ESXI and other hyper-v virtualization, but the same sort of logic regarding backing up other VMs applies: https://support.code…s_And_Separate_Boot_Partitions
Kyle
let me read that real quick before I let you go.
Chris H
All right.
Kyle
OK great! thanks Chris.
cool product, great price
HIPAA Compliant?
Chris H
PROe is, not Home or PRO.
Kyle
what's the monthly for PROe?
Chris H
Private deployment is $64/year per user. Hosted or hybrid deployments’ pricing differs, and you will need to get in touch with our Sales team to hash that out (code42.com/contact). -

I use CrashPlan PRO on a Linux machine to mount my Synology NAS via NFS and offsite my Veeam Backups.
This is a supported method of backing up a NAS.
