iPad Will Not Power On
-
We have an old iPad, an original iPad from the very first release, and it has been heavily used and abused for five years, so if it is dead that's okay. But it would be great if it wasn't dead, all the same. It was working just fine until the last charge cycle. It charged fine last time, worked fine until the battery died, now it does not turn or, charge or do anything else. Tried plugging it into a Windows machine and got nothing, The Windows PC doesn't recognize the iPad being plugged in. My guess is it is just dead, but wondered if anyone know of anything that could be done for it.

Have you checked the charging port for any crud that may be preventing the charger from making full contact? I've had to clean a number of iPhones who had this issues... pocket lint was a big culprit but I'm sure with kids it could be anything.

It appears to be clear and we've tried blowing it out just in case.

That's all I have. I've seen the backlights go dead... but it would still charge/be seen by a PC if that were the case.

maybe the battery shorted internally and is dead, it might just need a replacement one.
-
Did you try the hardware rest, home and power for like 30 seconds or something like that?
I have used it once on a phone that seemed dead.
Obviously, if the battery is truly gone, this will not work.

I had this happen to a Mini -
Plug it in, wait about 30 seconds then press the LOCK and HOME buttons for 30 seconds.

Unlike Windows Tablets or Any laptop. The iPads do like phones an will no power just from a plugged in source even with enough power to turn it on. They must filter all power through the charge control circuit/battery first before it can get to the logic board. My guess is your battery is bad. You can replace them it's anywhere between $15-$40 depend on where you pick them up.

Likely more limited options available in a small mountain town in Spain.

If not, I'm sure you can find someone in the states to take an order for you and forward it there.

Were you able to get your iPad to power back on?
