Windows 10 to make the secure boot alt os lock out a reality

So in other words they would like devices sold that will be locked down to running windows 10 making them useless otherwise. I'm sure this is just an invitation for people to write custom/hacked bios firmware's. I guess the solution is just to order Computers with alternate OSes and then install windows if you need to.

Unless I misread that article, it stated that they UEFI disable will not be required to be there, but they are not requiring to not mpbe there.
It will be up to the OEM.

Exactly. why would those who are already doing this not leave in the option to disable it.
The places I would expect see no ability to disable it would be super cheap laptops and cheap tablets. Granted that is probably where techies would want to use it most.

Pretty much any computer outside of high end gaming and business grade computers will cut costs anywhere they can.

Along that line of thought, I would assume that the cost of removing it is more than the cost of leaving that part of the BIOS code alone.
