Oh lovely. Another computer where you need adapters to acess the ports you want!
not just that, but a new adapter that no one has yet.
-
Ug, more damned adapters!
-
Haven't we done the adapter-for-everything thing before?

You guys missed the boat in your jump to bitch about it.
This is not a new adapter directly. It is USB-C. Apple is simply using a standard (instead of making up their own) as the port of choice for the new MacBook
This is also not an Apple thing. Here is an article on the subject from August of last year.

@scottalanmiller And it's an Apple branded adapter, so it costs $75 ...
-
It looks sweet and it's amazing they got it so thin, but a single USB port? Very stupid move.
Edit: Also as I predicted before, it's the first to support USB charging of the laptop! Huzzah no more stupid power adapters for each brand!

(didn't read the entirety of the article before commenting.)

Unless they keep require higher wattage.. like the iPads do and those even require a chip to tell them that it is compatible.
-
@thecreativeone91 They'll all require way more amps than the USB3 standard provides, but they all get the amps on the same pins - victory is ours!
Re: the chips - yeah well you vote with your wallet so.... I'll leave that there and return to my PC's.
Edit: PC Laptops with MORE THAN ONE USB PORT. cough cough Sorry. Had to be done.
-
Looks like a nice laptop.

I almost never use two USB ports at the same time now, so how does this matter to me or many other people?
-
I normally use four or five.

Even more than people that use more than one at a time, the people that have USB hubs is such a small number that for mass market I would ignore that segment.
-
When at my desk with my laptop I have a USB hub connected when traveling I don't need one as I leave the mouse etc. behind.
