I've had some issues with the latest Dev. Preview build with Wi-Fi dropping out and random lockups but on a whole, Windows Phone 8x is pretty solid. I cannot imagine returning to Android because every Android phone I owned, it would eventually just become a phone that locked up over and over and over. When web browsing, phone would just shut down and turn off. That happened with all 3 of my Android phones over time.
Yeah I found this to be the case on my Android phones as well. I swapped over to my 620 and am formatting the S4 because it was having all kinds of issues. In light of another thread here, I wonder how much of the AT&T crapware might be to blame?
After the rebuild on the S4, and not installing Touchdown to connect to my work Exchange account, I've noticed that battery life is MUCH better and so far the phone hasn't had nearly the same issues - but I don't really use it much either. I'm considering adding another phone number to my account so I can have both phones active at the same time to play with them. While not super cheap, $20 or less isn't to bad for testing and makes easy use of the wifi hotspot if I needed to.
I know Windows 10 is the last hope for "Windows Based Phones"...and I am already thinking about which platform I may be forced to go to...probably iPhone, as tough as that is to say...not a biased but just don't like the "experience" of them...

I'm really hoping that this rumored flagship Lumia is going to be carrier neutral. The Lumia brand has been hurt in the US by carrier exclusives.

Yes...my workplace is on Verizon and I for sure want the next flagship, perhaps the 1020 replacement since photos are very important to me.

I wouldn't call it rumored. MS announced they are making another flagship phone to be released at the same time as Windows 10.

@Dashrender I guess my use of rumored has to do more with my ability to get it

I feel your pain. I plan to get one as well. I've been considering getting a used 1520 to get me over the hump.. but I don't really wanna pay $400+ for it.

There are rumors that the phone preview will be tomorrow...I'll still wait and see if it strips some of the functionality I need...plus, I wonder if my ICON needs Denim first, which is slated for this month too...

I can't even find an ICON or the 9XX non Verizon version used. What functions do you use so thoroughly to be concerned about their loss?

Microsoft Store still has some new ICON's...this phone still rocks for me...though was tempted to go iPhone6+ when I was upgrading people here back last fall.
I really use the ROOM hubs...my wife and much of her family and my mom and dad all have Windows Phones and we really use the Family Room options...everyone loves them...makes it easier for them to share events, calendars, group texts and more.
I just feel like any "hub" option is going by the wayside...too bad as I actually liked them...

I think Gabe Aul killed those rumors today: http://www.windowscentral.com/about-those-rumors-february-4-release-windows-10-preview-phones.

When I tried the windows phone last (its been at least a year) it crashed constantly. Email was horrible on it had to restart the darn thing at least once a day.
My IPhone just works, I do have a couple app issues (mostly facebook) but the phone, email, texting etc. just work without having to restart. I have to restart my phone when I get a major update (not the little ones) and that is it.
Sounds like you got a dud. definitely worth updating it though!

Mine's been great on the dev preview releases. Most issues that I've had is the testing that I've been doing with UC Browser... it's crashed more times in three days than Internet Explorer in 18 months!

One of my relatives has an S4 and has returned it 3 times for hardware faults BUT another of my relatives (as far as I know) has had zero issues.
Carrier crapware will be the undoing of Android. -

And vendor bloat too. I enjoy my nexus5 for it's lack there of.

I'm really hoping that the tradition of decent hardware at a decent price continues. No one else is doing that.
Here in AU, I'd have to spend at least $400 to get a decent Android phone and the least expensive iPhone that I can get is the 5c that is still up around $500... unless I get a refurb. -
Same prices here.
-
I don't see prices on Flagship phones going down any time soon. They still fly off the shelves at those prices, so why would they change?

I'm not sure I buy that - HTC or Samsungs add ons, I really doubt that would release a product where their add-ons hurt their product... but the carriers, that's another story... but who knows.. I could be wrong.
