Windows 10 for Phones
-
I will be checking this out. I have a Lumia 522 just sitting here that I have but just don't use. I hope that this platform becomes as stable as my IPhone at some point!
-
You got me excited in thinking this was released today...they did say it would come AFTER the Super Bowl. I will be slow to install it though until I see what it strips out. I may be the only one who uses the ROOM hubs with my family and LOVE it.

Yeah, it's a bit like that. Nice new stuff but useful stuff gets removed.

Sadly, I think my 620 will be left out until the last possible minute

More stable? What do you mean? I've been using my 635 since the second week of December and I haven't had a single stability issue - only a lack of apps issue.
Hell this thing is WAY more stable than my Galaxy S4 was (though that could have been app related).

When I tried the windows phone last (its been at least a year) it crashed constantly. Email was horrible on it had to restart the darn thing at least once a day.
My IPhone just works, I do have a couple app issues (mostly facebook) but the phone, email, texting etc. just work without having to restart. I have to restart my phone when I get a major update (not the little ones) and that is it.
-
Interesting. I've experienced none of that. You might see if there is an update for you 522 to Windows Phone 8.1 u1 and try again.
I use email with O365 only, no more pop or IMAP accounts (sux there is no gmail app), and I've had great luck.
-
I only use 365 now too. So it wasn't POP or IMAP issues just email app issues. I even tried downloading a third party app to try it out (that didn't work either). But I will check it out once again. I would love to have my NTG stuff to be windows based across the board.

I've had some issues with the latest Dev. Preview build with Wi-Fi dropping out and random lockups but on a whole, Windows Phone 8x is pretty solid. I cannot imagine returning to Android because every Android phone I owned, it would eventually just become a phone that locked up over and over and over. When web browsing, phone would just shut down and turn off. That happened with all 3 of my Android phones over time.
-
Maybe I need to fire up my Lumia and check this out.
-
Starting mine up now! Have to charge the battery first though.

We have three Windows Phone devices in the field. There has been no stability issues, they are actually more stable then most of the iOS devices that we have. Granted our sample size is pretty small, and we don't have the newest iPhones out there.

I will be checking mine out. Worth digging out.

Yeah I found this to be the case on my Android phones as well. I swapped over to my 635 and am formatting the S4 because it was having all kinds of issues. In light of another thread here, I wonder how much of the AT&T crapware might be to blame?
After the rebuild on the S4, and not installing Touchdown to connect to my work Exchange account, I've noticed that battery life is MUCH better and so far the phone hasn't had nearly the same issues - but I don't really use it much either. I'm considering adding another phone number to my account so I can have both phones active at the same time to play with them. While not super cheap, $20 or less isn't to bad for testing and makes easy use of the wifi hotspot if I needed to.

I know Windows 10 is the last hope for "Windows Based Phones"...and I am already thinking about which platform I may be forced to go to...probably iPhone, as tough as that is to say...not a biased but just don't like the "experience" of them...

I'm really hoping that this rumored flagship Lumia is going to be carrier neutral. The Lumia brand has been hurt in the US by carrier exclusives.

Yes...my workplace is on Verizon and I for sure want the next flagship, perhaps the 1020 replacement since photos are very important to me.

I wouldn't call it rumored. MS announced they are making another flagship phone to be released at the same time as Windows 10.
-
@Dashrender I guess my use of rumored has to do more with my ability to get it

I feel your pain. I plan to get one as well. I've been considering getting a used 1520 to get me over the hump.. but I don't really wanna pay $400+ for it.
