MangoCon 2020 Hotel Details

Probably a bit early for this, but it crossed my mind today. I cannot recall if the place we were at last year actually had an attached hotel or not.
-
The Texican Court is where you want to be. This year the entire conference is going to be at that venue, so if you stay there, you don't even have to cross the street or anything for any part of the conference. It's all in one facility.

Ballpark dates for the big event yet?

Dates have been set since last year
May 6-8, 2020

If you want a different hotel option that is ridiculously close, the Westin Irving Convention Center is right across the street. Very nice place and all you do is run across the intersection to be at the conference. Marriott / Bonvoy members might prefer that location.
-
One block further away is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Irving Convention Center. A lot of people used that last year. Also walkable, but not AS convenient.
-
Hopefully I can make it this year.

How much does Spirit airlines suck? Their prices are too good to be true.
-
If anyone is using the train, the convention and these hotels are all right next to the "Orange Line" Irving / Convention Center rail station. This line is easy to access from downtown and the DFW airport (it's just a couple stops from DFW Airport.) So if you arrive by Amtrak to Dallas station, it's an easy light rail trip there, no need for a taxi or Uber. If you arrive at the airport, same thing. The Orange Line also connects to Love Field, home of Southwest Airlines.
So any hotel located on the train lines (Orange or Green) would be extremely convenient as well. Dallas' light rail system is super easy to use, very safe, all suburban in this area, and has free parking.

Believe it or not, they are my preferred airline. Both domestic and internationally.
-
@RojoLoco I think they make up for it on baggage fees.... That's what I've heard.
-
Also "close enough" is the Marriott Dallas Las Colinas. Longer walk, but not a problem.
-
If you are willing to walk a bit further (it's a totally safe and really nice area to walk) straight down the street a bit more, the high end (they are based in Dallas, so this is like location #2) for Omni Mandalay or the less pricey Hilton Homewood Suites for those looking to get Hilton points, are options. And the Aloft.
That pretty much exhausts the convenient hotels located within any kind of walk.
-
Don't be tempted to stay at Holiday Inn Las Colinas. It's a bit of a walk

Agreed. I think I stayed there last year and the walk was a bit exciting at night.

No sidewalk, but easily walkable.

That is not walkable unless you like to take significant risks

Great, planned the wrong location for our honeymoon. Should have went to Texas instead of Orange Beach, AL

I did it last year, but won't again now that I know the length of the walk.
