I consistently like AA better than Delta
Can you explain why? Also, do you fly FC when on larger airlines?
Not because of the seats of whatever, but because of overall customer service. Delta is by no small margin the worst airline I've every flown, anywhere in the world. And I fly all over. I've never had worse service, no one comes close. They absolutely hate their customers and will go out of their way to make sure you know it and are sorry for having been saddled with them. I would literally prefer a bare bones airline over Delta FC because how comfy the seat is doesn't make any difference when they sell it to someone else and leave you at the gate, even when you are on time.
I don't fly FC, don't see the value in it. If it was free, sure. But it's not, so ... why?
Sometimes I think my parents and I are the only people in the world who haven't had a bad Delta experience :P.
No airline is perfect - I'm sure I've had a bad Delta experience - but so bad as to have a memory about it. They are who I normally fly with these days.. though I still often go with whomever is cheapest.
As for flying FC - like 3 times in my life, never paid for it myself, not worth it.

Southwest is not considered because of airport restriction in Chicago. Also I hate their fucking cattle stalls. I want a specific seat.
Never had a "bad" experience with them, but never a good one, either. Here in Dallas they are consistently the most expensive carrier, which is BS considering what a terrible experience their cattle calls are. I've totally written them off as they are always twice the cost of anyone else. Literally anyone. They are my local airport, too. Really sucks that they are so bad cost wise and with how they handle passengers. The crew and flights were always good the few times I could afford to use them.
If you are a two checked bag person - SW definitely starts to make sense, otherwise, I'm with you - too damned expensive.

Anyone fly AA in FC? I am contemplating using AA on my next flight, but have never flown with them before. The equipment is an A319 and I am interested in your opinion on comfort (seats, noise, etc), food, and in flight services. If you can compare to Delta (A320), that would be most helpful.
Thanks.
Have you checked out seatguru.com? I'm sure there are other too.

@Pete-S
I have. Not much there to help with my questions. -

I enjoy the bigger seat, I enjoy the lie flat bed (Delta One), I appreciate the food choices, and I certainly like the extra personal attention. We haven't flown in anything but FC since November of '94. The price is not an issue; my happiness is. For these reasons it is worth it to me. I will admit, however, if price were an issue, I would probably not be in FC.

The price is not an issue - ya must be part of the 0.1%... FC is normally 3x a non FC seat inside the US - no clue outside. And international it's more like 10x or more.
There was a thread on here a few years ago that showed how FC on international paid for something like 60-70% of the income of the flight - and could easily be over 90% in some cases - just showing how much more FC costs over non FC.
If I flew FC, I'd have to limit myself to one trip a year instead of the 4-6 I typically take.
Would I enjoy the larger seat - sure, the food, the lie flat (international) of course - but at the cost of the rest of my entire vacation? nope.

I find the price of FC would make me unhappy. lol

What kind of income would you have to have to flip that frown upside down?
I think If I made 3x what I do now - I might be able to pull it off, though because of taxes it might take 4-5...

Must be nice. I would have to choose between a FC ticket or actually having a vacation.

Dallas to Managua: $125 on Spirit Economy
Houston to Managua: $570 on cheapest available FC (United)
Dallas to Managua: $1,178 on cheapest available FC (AA)Economy allows me to fly for under 1/4 the cost from the local airport. FC requires a four hour drive to a Houston airport to even get an option nearly doubling the TIME of the travel to not be instane! And adding a ton of additional cost and complication.
So for FC from the same airport... it's 1,000% higher and on an airline I enjoy flying less, with older planes. And two layovers instead of just one.

When I was making in the .1% range, I was nowhere near FC making sense to me.
But there are a lot of factors. Food, lay flat, bigger seats... all nice but their value to me is dollars, not thousands of dollars. If I get FC for $20, heck yeah, I'm all over that on a flight of any length. But for $100, probably not.

With FC... the flight IS the vacation!

Some people really have issues with the seats, food, drinks, and other factors on a flight. I do not. I'm so ridiculously comfy on flights that I won't even pay for seat assignments. I get middle seats regularly in economy and I don't really care. On all my flights this past week (four) I took the middle every time so that my traveling partner could have the non-middle seat. All the same to me. I'm just going to close my eyes and relax anyway.

I think the point here is that @JasGot can afford to take us ALL on vacation, first class of course. Where are we going?

How about somewhere with a bit less civil unrest?

Meh. Nica is crazy safe. Even with the civil unrest it is safer than much of the US.

How about dinner and drinks in Key West? I would be willing to do that.
