I complained to an Amazon Rep cause I just bough the Nexus 6P and went through all the trouble of setting it up etc only to here it was going to be no longer supported a week later.. (I keep my phones for a long time). Anyway I got them to agree to send me an unlocked iPhone 6s Plus refurbished at no additional cost in exchange for this one.. granted I spend a but load of $$$ on amazon..

No longer supported - HA. They are dropping support Sept of next year. This is totally inline with Google's typical support Window. The 6P will probably see the O version of Android and after that it will be done. But compare this to most Android phone makers, you're lucky if you get one OS update, let alone two over the life of a device.

Even then, it's entirely carrier dependent for a lot of people.

You mean for damn near everyone except iPhone users.

                so disappointed in this release.

I'll be moving away from Nexus and going with another manufacturer now...Google have completely gone against what they set out to do with the original Nexus phone and it's shitty and annoying.

They are only doing security updates. The Nexus devices are not supported and will not see any bug fixes or Android OS versions. They still haven't fixed the bluetooth issues with the 6P.

We aren't comparing them to others though, we don't care about those. That's one of the reasons we wanted vanilla.

I saw my first Phone made by Google commercial last night. I don't recall seeing it called a Pixel at all.

I don't recall ever seeing or hearing that Google had Nexus ads, but then again I'm not surprised, the Nexus was always touted as a developer's phone.

It's clear to me that Google plans to try to sell a lot of Pixel phones. Now I wonder how long until we see them in big box stores?
