When I need to speak with someone who is currently on a call, I would like to get an audible signal on my phone when they hang up the call. I suspect this is attached to BLF, and I know Yealink has "Audio Alert for BLF Pickup", but I need an audio alert for blf hang up, and I would like it to be only after I select their blf button.

Is this going to be a Busy/Ringback event? or a Transfer event? or something else.

I'm happy to search for it, I just don't know what to call it.

        Interesting idea.

My Mitel system has the ability to leave a 'message' which blinks the vmail light on the phone... when a person presses the message button, it just calls the person who left the 'message' back.

Personally I've found a real dislike for this particular feature because I frequently forget what I called for in the first place by the time they call me back.

I also realize this doesn't exactly get you what you want, which is instant comms with the person when they hang up the phone, but what happens if you leave your phone before they hang up? now they are calling back an empty desk.

It wouldn't initiate a call, it would just ring or chirp your phone so you would know they hung up.

Their old internal PBX had this and they miss the feature.

I like this part! I can relate!

That's an odd sort of thing to have. I could imagine a BLF that would stop blinking, but to make noise the entire time that the caller is on hold, while you the call recipient are doing something/on another call.

            That seems annoying. .

To that point here is a solution for a Cisco phone system that seems to do this.

Not make noise the entire time... make noise - a single tone one time - when they hang up - basically to remind you - hey Gorgie is off the phone, you can call him now.

So George is on hold > BLF flashes this entire time > George gets tired of waiting > Call missed goes into "Missed Call Log" & play tone when Call-Waiter hangs up.

Still seems a bit odd to need that, even for a single "Hey you missed George audio reminder".

                    No...

                    let's start over.

Dustin is on the phone, Jason calls him. Jason presses a button on his phone that enacts a process that WHEN Dustin hangs up, Jason's phone will beep letting Jason know Dustin is now off the phone.

that's all - there's no request for a BLF anywhere...

now it would make sense for the button that Jason pressed on his phone to lightup basically showing that Dustin's line is active - until he hangs up.. then the button would be assigned to nothing.

this process does bring a question up - on the old phone system - when the beep happened - how did the waiting person know whom to call back? what if they forgot who that notice was for that they wanted to talk to...

And since we already have BLF buttons for these people ( or most of them ) It would be fine if this feature were activated by pressing the BLF button, else, we'll need two buttons per person.

I just found this. I guess it is called "Camp" or "Call Back"

                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_callback

Not I can start researching how to do it with VitalPBX.

The conversation here, on this topic was instrumental in getting me on the right path for a solution. Thank you all!
We can keep talking about it too, if you want 🙂
